OUR
STORY
Welcome to our site!
In 2009 we started experimenting with goofy Christmas card ideas to amuse our friends and family. What started out as a simple “matching pajamas” card that first year – which, admittedly, was not hilarious – has snowballed into an annual months-long project for us, with the goal of creating something sillier than the year before. And, it’s become a fun way for us to document the growth of our family (we’ve even been accused of having another kid or acquiring pets solely to improve our Christmas card options – no comment!).
This all means that from June to November you might find us brainstorming card ideas in secret, costume shopping, scouting photo locations, or – our favorite – humiliating ourselves when spotted taking pics for the card in public. Some embarrassing incidents have included: sprinting up and down a crowded beach in wigs and whistles as Baywatch babes in 2013; knocking on a stranger’s door in a maid costume in 2016 to ask if we could pose near her cows for a “maids-a-milking” photo; John flailing in a Speedo at our local gym’s busy indoor pool while recreating the underwater “naked Nirvana baby” photo in 2015; and, arriving at a rocky area along the James River in 2019 in full face paint and head-to-toe lion costumes – including the dog – only to find that we’d picked the exact same spot as 100 friendly churchgoers (there were Bibles, guitars, singing, and then… six lions and a photographer). But John will say the most embarrassing of all has been his super-duuuuper skimpy “Borat” photo shoot in 2017 which, due to some poor planning on our part, took place in full view of a busy wedding reception! He still has PTSD.

When we’re not begging our kids to cooperate for “one last photo,” we’re shuttling them between three different schools and extracurriculars, and working our day jobs – John leads his own biz dev consulting firm (www.Growth-Logik.com), and Justine is in communications/public relations. We’re so glad you stopped by! We hope we’ve made you laugh, even if it’s at our expense.
